Professional packing & unpacking
Full-pack, partial-pack, kitchen-only — pick what fits your time and budget. Hourly rate includes labor and materials. We unpack on the other end too.
Choose what you want packed
Packing is the single most time-consuming part of a move. We'll handle as much (or as little) of it as you want. The hourly rate includes labor and the packing material we use — boxes, tape, paper, bubble wrap, and dish/glass dividers.
- Full packWhole house — kitchen, closets, shelves, garage, art, the works. Best for tight timelines.
- Partial packKitchen and fragiles only; you handle the soft goods (clothes, linens, books).
- Fragiles onlyGlassware, china, art, mirrors, large lamps. The stuff you don't want to think about.
- UnpackingWe unwrap, place on flat surfaces, and take the empty boxes away. Common for long-distance moves.
What we pack (and a few rules)
- Kitchens — china, glassware, stemware, small appliances, pantry items in dish-pack cartons with dividers.
- Closets — clothing into wardrobe boxes (we bring these on the truck for free for the move itself; for storage or extended use, ask about purchasing).
- Books, papers, files — small boxes only (books are heavy); we keep weights manageable for safer handling.
- Mirrors, pictures, glass — bubble-wrapped, into mirror cartons. Oversized glass and marble tops are pad-wrapped or crated separately.
- Lamps and shades — shades wrapped in tissue and labeled "Fragile: Top Load Only"; delicate lamps boxed; standard lamps pad-wrapped for local moves.
- Important documents, jewelry, valuables — keep these with you. No mover will accept responsibility for these items; that's a universal rule, not a Superior policy.
- Hazardous materials — pool acid, bleach, lighter fluid, paint, propane, ammunition. We can't move these; dispose properly before move day.

How packing is priced
Packing is hourly, with the same crew-size logic as a regular move: the packer's hourly rate includes the labor and the materials they use that day. We don't surprise-bill for boxes after the fact. If you're using us for both packing and moving, we typically schedule packing 1–2 days before move day and consolidate the billing.
For a written packing-only estimate, give us a room-by-room inventory of what needs packing and how many boxes you think it'll take. Don't worry about being precise — we adjust on site if needed.
Frequently asked questions
How long does professional packing take?
A typical 2–3 bedroom home takes 4–8 hours with a 2-person packing crew. Kitchens are the slowest room (lots of fragiles, lots of small items). Closets are the fastest. Full estimates depend on how much china, glassware, and art you have.
Do you provide the boxes, or do I buy them?
We bring the boxes and materials we'll use that day. If you want extra boxes on hand for self-packing, you can buy them from us in advance — call for pricing.
Can you pack just the kitchen?
Absolutely. "Kitchen and fragiles only" is one of our most popular options — you handle the easy stuff, we handle the breakable stuff. Typically 3–5 hours with a 2-person crew.
What about unpacking?
On the destination end, we'll unwrap items and place them on flat surfaces — counters, dressers, table tops — and take the empty boxes and paper away. Putting items into cupboards and closets is usually done by you (because preferences vary), but we can do that too if you'd like.
